FAQ
Is the AlphaVision sanitary sheath biodegradable?
Yes, the AlphaVision sanitary sheath was designed to be biodegradable and compostable.
Where can Alpha sheaths be purchased from?
Alpha sheaths are available directly through Southern Reproductive. To place an order or check availability, please contact our team or get in touch with us at southernreproductive@gmail.com or 022 395 5712.
Does the Kombicolor pistol need to be used with AlphaVision?
Yes, AlphaVision was designed to function exclusively with the Kombicolor pistol. This pistol provides simplified attachment to the sheath, optimises mounting and dismounting times, and is compatible with fine and medium straws.
Does AlphaVision reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders?
By reducing the duration of rectal palpation, AlphaVision helps lower the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. It is also important to stand at the correct height so the arm is vertical, adding something underfoot if required (pallet, step, etc.).
Can AlphaVision help with detecting heat?
AlphaVision allows the quantity and quality of cervical mucus to be viewed.
Is there a risk that the animal could be injured with AlphaVision?
AlphaVision was conceived and designed to foster animal welfare. Research confirmed that the speculum diameter does not injure the animal. The Alpha sheath has a rounded end to avoid trauma.
Can AlphaVision be used to apply a treatment?
Yes, the AlphaVision handle is compatible with certain syringes, allowing you to pass your sheath through the cervix with ease.
What kinds of problems can be detected with AlphaVision?
AlphaVision allows detection of gynecological anomalies such as bleeding, cervix malformation, double cervix, infections including metritis, and more.
Should the pistol extension be used every time the system is used?
No, when performing a diagnosis you only need to use AlphaVision. The rod and pistol extension are used for insemination.
Why does the handle of the pistol extension have notches on it?
The handle has 10 notches. A cervix is typically 6 to 8 cm long, and each notch is 1 cm. This provides an indication of the passage of the rings through the cervix.
Should the speculum be changed between two inseminations?
Not systematically. Since the biodegradable sanitary shirt covers the speculum during insemination, all that is required is to clean the speculum with antiseptic solution and wipe it with a soft cloth before applying a fresh sanitary shirt.
